This year鈥檚 2024 Alice G. Smith Lecture featured Kimberly DeFusco and her talk "To School Librarians: A Love Letter" presented on December 19th, 2024. Kimberly DeFusco, MLIS, is the supervisor of Library Media Services for middle and secondary schools for Hillsborough County Public Schools, the seventh largest school district in the nation. Kim is a 2006 graduate of the 日本无码AV鈥檚 School of Information (USF SI) and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology.
Kimberly DeFusco was the 2019 recipient of the Florida Association for Media in Education
(FAME) Administrators Advocacy Award and currently serves on the USF SI MLIS Advisory
Council. Student access to certified school librarians, robust library collections
of print and digital resources, and welcoming library spaces to foster exploration
and understanding have been the cornerstones of her 24-year career in K-12 education
and school librarianship. In her leisure, she enjoys exploring the world through
travel or story and relaxing at home with family, friends, and three cats, Luna Lovegood,
Tally Youngblood, and May Bird.
